Spanish Teen Program in Guanacaste
Our unique Teen Program is an exciting combination of adventure and language study that is designed to be fun and educational for high school students aged 13-18. This total immersion experience is guaranteed to be a valuable, life-changing opportunity that helps students learn at a rapid pace.
For two weeks, students are completely surrounded by Spanish - in the institute, on the street, and in the home of a local Costa Rican family. Students absorb the culture and apply the Spanish they learn to everyday situations, fun extracurricular activities, and thrilling outdoor activities. They also make a real difference in people's lives by participating in 15 hours of community service. Teens have the chance to learn a language, experience a culture, visit amazing sites, volunteer, make new friends, and more!
Costa Rica – land of jungles, beaches, volcanoes, exotic animals, and beautiful national parks – is famous for its comprehensive list of extraordinary places to see and things to do. In addition to classes and cultural events, we strive to include plenty of sightseeing as well so that our students can learn while enjoying the natural wonders of Costa Rica.
Our program is personal and small - 8-30 students. For every 8 students in the program, a Chaperone Teacher, who helps organize the trip both before and during the program, can participate in all of the activities (except surfing), plus 10 hours of private Spanish classes, for free.

Teen Program Description
On Sunday, you will arrive to Liberia's airport and meet your host family! You’ll be welcomed with a home-cooked Costa Rican meal and genuine warmth and hospitality. Your family will take you for a tour of Liberia, showing you how to get to school and other important places in town.
Every morning of the week, you’ll experience dynamic, interesting Spanish classes with our fun teachers from 8am to 12md. In the afternoons, you will do homework, have individual intercambios (language exchanges) with our English students, and participate in various cultural activities:
Monday: Spend the afternoon making a difference in a very poor community just outside of Liberia. You’ll play games with kids, work in the community garden, and build or paint houses. It’s sure to be an experience you won’t forget!
Tuesday: Contribute to the community of Liberia by helping conduct a Kid’s Reading Club, and then enjoy a Music Appreciation Class with popular Latin songs and fun activities.
Wednesday: Don’t forget your dancing shoes because Wednesday is Latin dance class, followed by our group intercambio at a local restaurant!
Thursday: Learn how to make traditional, delicious Costa Rican dishes in cooking class, and then make some jewelry with local seeds and recycled materials in artisan class.
Friday: Go to a gorgeous waterfall the first Friday to enjoy the afternoon and complete a special language project. The second Friday there will be a camping trip in a National Park!
On the weekends, you’ll have the chance to explore nearby national parks to see Costa Rica’s famous natural beauty. Have the time of your life rafting down a river, ziplining, enjoying natural hot springs and mud baths, hiking, surfing, laying on the beach, and swimming in waterfalls and rivers.
